First stop of the Dutch Championship was at the Grevelingen.
With winds from 12 to 20 I rigged both my sails.
The point7 2k13 formula 12 meter and the 10m Gaastra 2012.
With the 12 meter I had some issues with to less cam pressure so before rigging I put some spacers in. But even with 3 spacers I had hardly any cam pressure, but heck, the first training with no pressure at all went ok so why bother to much now.
The 10 meter ia an easy sail to trim so no trouble there.
At the first start it was a no brainer to go with the 12 meter but just before the sart the wind already increased. The upwind was ok and I rounded in the top ten the first bouy but could not rotate my sail. I tried pushing woth my front hand and pulling on my backhand but I just couldn’t hamdle it… That was a DNF, shit.
I decided to go with the 10m. The next race I was to late to start with the rest and so I sailled form behind. With a good second upwind I came close to the top ten but then sailed over the bouy which catched my fin….. Just a little stupid… And lost several places to finish 16th.
But I was in control and able to concentrate on the racing.
After the short break we continued with race 3. The wind was still upto the 20 knots so no doubt about the sail to use, the 10m again. The start was ok and on the first lap I could climb and climb and climb, so no reason to tack before the layline…. This gave me a good position on the first buoy and I was able to finish with in the first 10. The next race I decided to again get to the layline cause again I could climb on the upwind untill I reached the layline. Again the tactics was ok and I came second at the first bouy. In the downwind some guys with 11 and 12 came over me and I entered the second upwind in sixth place. In the upwindI was able to overtake two guys again and rounded in 4th place the last upwind buoy. With a serious gap to number 5 I started the downwind. But Pieter really stamped on the pedal and came within 1 boardlenght when we passed the last buoy onto the finish. In this halfwind reach Pieter, with 11, just had a notch more speed then me and the finish was just 10cm to far. i got beaten by 10cm to come in as 5th. Still a great result for me.
Again we had a break to start the lastrace at 16.00. The wind became less constant and when we started there where some holes on the course. But I could plane really good and again sailed direcly to the layline. On the second leg to the first buoy there was a 20 meter really though windhole which was hard to keep planning through. but I managed and came third around the bouy. But at the moment I started the downwind I saw the commitee boat with the flag to stop racing. We then tried one last start but it was not meant to be and so after 4 races the day was over.
